Yang Shangkun (杨尚昆) Archive
Yang Shangkun (杨尚昆; 3 August 1907 – 14 September 1998) was Political Commissar of the Third Army Group of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army in 1932. He later was Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and Vice-Chairman of the Military Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. He served as President of the People's Republic of China from 1988 to 1993, and was and one of the "Eight Elders" that dominated the Communist Party after the death of Mao Zedong.
