...the younger the socialist movement in any given country, the more vigorously it must struggle against all attempts to entrench non-socialist ideology, and the more resolutely the workers must be warned against the bad counsellors who shout against ’overrating the conscious element’...Yes, our movement is indeed in its infancy, and in order that it may grow up faster, it must become imbued with intolerance to those who retard its growth by their subservience to spontaneity. V.I. Lenin, What Is To Be Done?
The National Network of Marxist-Leninist Clubs holds that the central task before US Marxist-Leninists today is the rectification of the general line of the US communist movement and the re-establishment of its communist party. This formulation correctly targets the essence of the party building process and identifies the development of the subjective factor as the key to successfully re-establishing the party. In order to more fully elaborate this line and distinguish it from other contending views on party building, the Club Network addresses the following points:
1. What is a Marxist-Leninist party? What is party building?
2. The degeneration of the Communist Party of the United States of America [CPUSA] into revisionism.
3. The mass movements of the 1960’s and the “new communist movement” of the early 1970’s.
4. The emergence of the anti-revisionist, anti-left opportunist trend and the “fusion” line on party building.
5. The development and essence of the rectification and re-establishment line.
