Nine years ago, on Aug. 21 1968, the Soviet social imperialists mounted a brutal invasion of Czechoslovakia in order to maintain it as a colony of the new Tsars of the Soviet Union.
Throughout Europe the anniversary of this bloody imperialist aggression has been taken as a day to expose the true nature of the Soviet imperialists, and to warn the working people of Europe of the real threat of aggression from the Soviet Union.
This year for the first time, a demonstration, organised by the RCLB, also took place in Britain. A militant rally took place in Hyde Park. The speaker for the RCLB attacked Soviet imperialist aggression throughout the world. He pointed out that Soviet social imperialism was out for a redivision of the world, and to spread its domination over more and more countries. He warned that, behind all the talk of peace, the 2 superpowers were preparing for war, the focus of their struggle being Europe. Warning that we could not rely on the other superpower US imperialism in any struggle against Soviet aggression, he pointed out that the people could only rely on their own strength. Speakers from the Joint Action Committee of Marxist-Leninists, the Revolutionary Communist (Marxist-Leninist) League, and the East London Marxist-Leninist Association strongly condemned Soviet social imperialist aggression, condemned the ruling revisionist clique that restored capitalism to the USSR after the death of Stalin, and warned of the need to stand up to Soviet bullying and prepare for war. A speaker for the Workers Institute of Marxism-Leninism MaoTsetung Thought also made a contribution.
A contingent of Bangladeshi comrades of the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party took part in the march.
After the Hyde Park rally a disciplined demonstration bristling with placards marched to the Soviet Embassy. Slogans demanded “Soviet social imperialism hands off Eastern Europe ... Keep out of Western Europe”, “Soviet tanks out of Europe”, and “Fight for independence – Resist the Soviet threat”. Slogans warned “Don’t rely on US imperialism – Workers unite for people’s war”.
Across from the Embassy, after a closing speech, the Internationale was sung.
Working people in Britain are beginning to join their fellow workers in other countries in struggle against Soviet social imperialism. This struggle will intensify until Soviet imperialism is destroyed by the people of the world as it surely will be.
