On February 25 we read on the walls of Paris:
“The government of the French Republic commits itself to a guaranteeing the existence of the workers through labor.
“It commits to guaranteeing work for all citizens.
“It recognizes that all workers should associate in order to enjoy the legitimate benefits of their labor.
“The Provisional Government is giving the workers, to whom it belongs, the million from the civil list.”
Garnier-Pagès, Mayor of Paris
Louis Blanc, one of the secretaries of the Provisional Government
To the Workers
The promises made on the barricades not having been kept, and the National Assembly having refused at its May 10 session to constitute a Ministry of Labor, the DELEGATES OF LUXEMBOURG refuse to participate in the so-called Festival of Concord.
