October 19 on appears only one issue of paper was printed each day at this point.
On Monday, July 9, 1928, the CP USA added the image of the hammer and sickle between the words “Daily” and “Worker” on the banner of The Daily Worker It remained there, through various changes in the art in the banner of the paper, for somewhat more than 7 years.
The last issue of The Daily Worker that presented prominently the hammer and sickle image on the banner was the Saturday September 19, 1936 issue.
With the Monday September 21 issue of The Daily Worker, the format of the entire paper and its banner was transformed. The paper now featured a sports page, and a theatre and film page. And the hammer and sickle was purged from the banner. Instead, the words “Daily” and “Worker” were moved closer together, and to the right of them in the banner was place a cutsy little one inch on a side (roughly) political cartoon... a different one every day. With the ones offered in September and October of 1936 being drawn by William Gropper.
The right political shift to that of “The Popular Front” political line and overt support of FDR (tho the Democratic Party wanted no part of the CP USA’s support!) is now explicitly reflected by the symbolic removal of the hammer and sickle from the banner as well as in the content of the CP USA's daily paper.

It was on July 9, 1928 that the Hammer and Sickle first appeared on the banner of The Daily Worker. It stayed on the banner of The Daily Worker for a little over seven years, to be removed in this revised banner on September 21, 1936. An example of the new banner type (in this case September 24, 1936) is shown, above.
One each of these mini-cartoons drawn by William Gropper were placed to the right of the words "Daily Worker" in the banner of issues of "The Daily Worker" of September 21 - 30.

Re: the quality of October 1936 (and months after that here) scans:
For October, November, and December of 1936 we were unable obtain first quality scans. Below are 132 dpi 8 bit gray scale scans of those months. They are quite readable on the screen, but do not do well if you zoom into them, or try to print out enlarged crops of art or text. Also, the pages in these months lack OCR. You may be able to add OCR if you have the appropriate software tools for this.
Re: edition type in October:
In October of 1936, from October 1 through October 17, inclusive, the scans we have are of the National edition. Starting October 19, there is no edition type mentioned.
