Ferdinand Lassalle as a social reformer, Edward Bernstein, London, Swan Sonnenschein, 1893, Preface of 24 pages and main text 192 pages, was translated by Eleanor Marx Aveling. It does not appear ever to have been republished. A few very minor changes have been made in this transcription. The notes have been renumbered and placed at the end of each chapter rather than at the bottom of the page while the Contents page has been placed before the Preface rather than after it. It will be noted that Eleanor Marx uses the term “middle class” as an English translation of “bürgerlich” where we would nowadays use the term “bourgeois”. Any errors remaining are the responsibility of the transcriber, Ted Crawford.
